Keli Safia Maksud
Keli Safia Maksud is an interdisciplinary artist and writer based in New York. Maksud’s practice traces the intersections of space, power, and memory, through installation, sound, and sculpture. Engaging archival fragments and embodied material processes, her work examines the violence and power embedded within systems of representation and standardization—interrogating how such systems present themselves as universal languages of experience, while denying and othering those whose realities fall outside their constructed sameness.
Keli Safia Maksud has exhibited work at CUE Art Foundation, New York; Goodman Gallery, Cape Town; and Videobrasil, São Paulo, among others.
